A Lesson from the Spirit

- To see oblivion where there is salvation.
- What does that mean, my Spirit?
- You walk and stumble, not knowing why this happens to you. You look around a lot, you compare. To observe is good. There is nothing shameful in watching with your soul the arrangement of being that was created for your good, to help you, so that by contemplating and observing you might feel your participation in the creation of all that exists, your participation in this world. But when you do this only out of self-interest, to elevate yourself above all of God’s creatures, how do you act? Rashly, unwisely, like a small child trying to be first everywhere.
- What does it mean to see salvation where there is oblivion? What does all this mean?
- What you try to cross out of your life, deeming it your weakness, is actually strength for you, for the sake and the glory of the greatness of your soul. Where you reject yourself, you cannot do this. It is impossible. Hence you feel so much pain, bitterness, so much wasted time and hope. Do you think you can erase yourself from your own life? But that is not so. Merely an illusion. Even when you consider yourself above the one you once were, you only close your eyes, creating a kind of illusion, a deception; you put yourself out of the game. So how do you expect to go on?
You cannot erase the past, you cannot cross it out, not destroy it. But you need not. If you destroy yourself there, you will have to go through those lessons again. Gather yourself anew. After all, all lessons are an important part of your becoming. In them is the salvation of your soul. Without accepting yourself, you cannot move forward, because the you you left in the past will pull you, slowing your steps. Only by accepting, not rejecting, do you become one with the Spirit that leads you; you give your tacit consent to your instruction, your guidance, to your becoming that spiritual unit of the perfect organism you strive toward.
Forbidding yourself something, even any small thing, like unrealized desires, you thereby force yourself to stop.
- What’s so special about that? Desire can be such that a person, wanting something, ruins his life, seeing nothing else.
- Desires are everywhere; they are not only within you, they are around you. Trees fall asleep only to wake again, do they not? But they do this not with demand, not in irritation, but in complete trust in the Creator. In full trust that by His mercy He will care for them, for their growth, for their development. That is hope. The hope that is reinforced by faith in the immovability of what is happening. When you begin to walk with a firm faith in your heart, all your true, sincere desires, the desires you need, will be nothing other than a simple process of communication with your Spirit, where in that communion you receive uncompromising support by trusting the Spirit that leads you — with love and hope, with faith and steady conviction that God is part of you, just as you are part of the great omnipotent and all-loving consciousness of the Creator.
