A Lesson from the Spirit
“Wisdom is not on the worn pages of books, nor is it somewhere far away; you don’t follow it like a guiding star, nor do you reach for it as you do for information. Wisdom is cultivated within yourself, and kept there.
To keep wisdom is to keep memories, smiles, glances, emotions. Wisdom passes through the centuries and remains in demand always and everywhere, unchanged by time; it is not limited by time, unlike knowledge. It is good to acquire knowledge, but far truer to cultivate wisdom within yourself, in eternity.
You can leave, run away, search out there for a source of knowledge that will make your path easier. Or you can look inside yourself and find there the wisdom of past lessons. And in exactly the same way, or even more easily, continue on your way.
‘And where does one learn wisdom?’
‘You cannot be taught wisdom. It is cultivated within you like a priceless gift. It is not knowledge you can apply in a given situation with given data—change the data, and you no longer know what to do. Using your wisdom, you will find a solution in any situation, wherever you are, and whatever lies ahead, you will always find an exit, a way.
It is that decision which does not require lengthy research, the application of algorithms, judgments, or analogies—only the feeling of your soul. People have largely forgotten this gift, listening to others who say that knowledge brings freedom. That is true, but wisdom grants you the insight within that freedom to see the true path.
So remember your lessons and keep them with dignity and honor in your soul, with immense gratitude for the opportunity you have—to determine your road, to illuminate the path, to find a way out, to have a broader view than ever before. Whoever is wise once is wise always, when their heart is filled with love, faith, and truth. True knowledge allows one to gain freedom—the true knowledge that is kept within you.’
