A Lesson from the Spirit

"Did you come here to ask or to know? How many fingers do you have on your hands?"
"Ten?"
"Like the Ten Commandments, right? One for each finger."
"But what are you even talking about?"
"When you eat with your hands, you look at them and remember the Ten Commandments."
"And what? I still don't see where you're going with this."
"Who taught you to walk, to speak, to eat?"
"Parents."
"That's what your mind says, right?"
"And who taught them?"
"Parents could not give you what they themselves had no influence over. Only you, by your own desire, by your own readiness, did these things. When you go into knowing yourself, into your spiritual growth, what do you see? The world around you, yourself in that world? How do you perceive the ubiquitous space?
If you look at it through the prism of the Almighty's love for you, everything becomes easy and clear. The parent who, in care, helps you stand on your feet is you."
"So parents aren't needed?"
"I didn't say that. You must not diminish another's role at the expense of yourself. They are needed and important. Parents are important in everyone's life. But not everyone has them.
Parents help share difficulties and sorrows, soothe moments of despair and grief, nurture confidence in yourself and your abilities.
Look at your fingers and understand that you are not alone, that each finger is responsible for something. So it is in a family, and in the world at large: everyone is responsible for something, performs a certain role, a certain function.
At the same time, they all grow from the same hands, from one you. You are the one who unites them. So it is here. Each of you is the one who unites those around you. And that does not depend on others' opinions or their support. It depends only on your decision to see the world as it is, bypassing all rules and norms, returning to your true self."
"What about gratitude?"
"You should be grateful to everyone, even those you are angry at. Otherwise, who are you? Otherwise, why did this happen to you? For what? For what purpose? For what reason?
This is not about gratitude or its absence. It cannot be reduced to that.
It's about daring to lift your gaze to yourself as one who comes into their spirituality by desire and by readiness. Not because someone demands it, but because you wanted it, because you are ready, and then, and only then, you will come to your success in the desire to see your path."
"And the commandments? I still don't get why commandments on each finger?"
"You are not ashamed of your hands; with them you create, with them you eat, and you learn with them too. Hands are what you are given at birth, and you accept them as a given, as something you already have. The commandments are what you come to later. They are the spirituality you do not see, but which is inside you.
It's not about fingers and commandments; it's about the fact that your body and your spirituality are one.

And just as you feel your body, nurture and care for it, so you can feel, nurture and care for your spirituality. It is also before your eyes, like the fingers you look at."
