Lesson from the Spirit

"What did you want to tell me?"
"Everything is small, for in everything there is a beginning.
You have become accustomed to seeing and experiencing your life through the prism of desires.
Where you have thanked someone, there that small thing has occurred, that beginning of your path to ascent, to the great.
Do you strive to change the world? Begin with yourself. Do you lament that you cannot be in great places and do great deeds? Do small things — in the places where you meet yourself, in the places where you see another, in the places where you every day feel the need for your spiritual growth. Spirituality is not about the great, nor about great victories and virtues; it is about the small, about those grains of goodness that each person can gather. You only need to will it.
"For example?"
"When you begin your day with the words: 'If only I had, if only I could, when I have the chance, then…'
That chance may never come.
Where, upon waking, you do something small and seemingly insignificant, there, precisely there, your path to spirituality begins, revealing the world to you facet by facet, reflecting those facets within yourself. This is to know the world — through knowing, through recognizing and remembering yourself, through that small thing which is part of the great You."
