Lesson from the Spirit
"Look at the fire, how it burns. But if you stir the coals even a little, it will flare up into bright flames."
"What is that about?"
"About resentment. While you are in comfortable conditions, you do not reveal these inner processes. But as soon as someone or something touches you, you begin to feel indignation inside, showing tongues of flame outwardly."
"Why does that happen?"
"You cannot influence it when you are subject to your excessive emotions. By calming your mind, you build around yourself that harmonious environment in which nothing can disturb you."
"How do you do that?"
"Imagine a campfire inside you, where the licking, heat-bearing flames irritate and burn everything they touch."
"How do you put that fire out inside yourself?"
"It does not need to be put out. The fire is you, a part of you; it helps you overcome the trials given to you. But it can be tamed by surrounding it with that environment and care in which any encroachment cannot touch it.
Let your flame flow within you as a soft, gentle stream of warm light.
Each time you feel indignation within, each time you feel injustice, deceit, betrayal, disagreement, protest—simply imagine that the roused fire inside you is transformed into a gentle sparkling light, a refined shimmering energy of the Divine principle within you. You are this light, you are harmony and acceptance, you are tenderness and calm, where any impact on you is perceived through this benedicted stream of light, transforming yourself and the space around you with a soft, gentle, careful, inspiring and transforming light—the true current of the Creator. So be it."
