A Lesson from the Spirit
Unveiling of Vision
“Do you look into the distance when you walk?”
“Not always.”
“You very often follow the same route, rarely lifting your head high. Yet you want to see more.
To see more, you must begin to do so.
When you walk along a familiar path, lift your head higher and direct your gaze outward. You know what lies further on, for you travel this familiar route every day.
Be it the road to work, to school, or simply a walk in the park. You know everything here; allow yourself, by looking into the distance, to see farther than your ordinary sight permits.
This is very good training. By practicing in this way, you will expand your vision and the limits of your sight more quickly. And this is only the beginning.
Walking along a familiar park path, you see benches, shrubs, trees you know. You choose the route that is familiar to you. What comes next?
Let it be a bench you know is there though you do not yet see it, or a tree, or a lamppost — it does not matter. What matters is what you know but do not yet see, what is hidden beyond the horizon of your vision. Let it appear before your eyes as something you already behold.
At first you will see the familiar path, and then you will see what you could not have known. It might be a person, or an animal, or some object that you perceive before your eyes do.
As soon as you begin to practice in this way, you will begin to see.
Vision is not something illusory or nonexistent; it is accessible to each of you, if with your own intention you desire it gently and reverently, in full harmony with yourself and the world around you.
And then you will begin to see not only the route familiar to you, but also what was hidden from you. So be it.
