A Lesson from the Spirit

Mercy

"When you come to God, what do you expect to hear?"
"Instruction."
"Instruction... Are they that important?"
"And what else?"
"People come to God for answers, sometimes without asking questions. He always knows what each one breathes and what each one needs. That is His omnipotence: to see even the hidden.
When you speak of faith, you mean God. But faith in God without faith in yourself is very unstable.
Begin to love yourself, begin to thank and inspire yourself.
What is joy for a parent?
To see the happiness of their children, is it not?
But when a child constantly cries and turns away from a parent's help, not trusting them, not opening to them, refusing to see anyone—even themselves—what does the parent feel?"
"He worries."
"Right, he is upset. After all, he gave everything necessary for life—life itself. He handed this instrument into hands with hope, with reverence and inspiration.
"My Spirit, tell me, please, what about those children who suffer, who are tormented from birth?"
"They were given such a fate."
"Why?"
"Thus it was apportioned. There exists a certain concept on which the cosmos is held. This concept is unbreakable. You often cling to years of life, but they are nothing compared to God's hours. Even less than a moment.
Tell me, knowing you could help your loved one, would you let a finger be pricked?"
"I think yes, of course yes, undoubtedly."
"To prick a finger is pain, but brief—just an instant. But if this drop tips the scales of balance and serves the great purpose of reunion and the rebirth of the One Spirit, is that much? Everything is known by comparison. That sacrifice is necessary, and everyone chooses it in their own way.
They, you are right, they have no choice. They have one program—to accept, to endure unto the end. Yet often it is even easier for them than for many of you.
"I don't understand, I disagree. So these children may have it easier than perfectly healthy people?"
"They are free from temptations, free from any vices. All that is alien to them.
Those subversive thoughts that often whirl in your head, giving you no rest; those deeds you later recall with pain; that madness that sometimes seizes you and in that frenzy you commit monstrous acts, while having the choice to act otherwise. To walk the path of enlightenment or be consumed by darkness. That is choice.
Those children are pure consciousness, luminous souls; they do not know reproach. They go into humility and acceptance—the Great spiritual luminous path. A hard but short road to the light.
And for some, a hundred lives may not be enough to reach that state of acceptance and gratitude, that state of absolute Divine radiance.
So answer me: would you have your finger pricked? Or suffer for years?"
"Each makes his own choice. Each walks his own path."
"These children are your salvation. In them, and through them, you learn mercy. They help you come to the light, although often your Ego insists otherwise. But that is deception.
They are the ones who lead you to the light. They give you that opportunity, not the other way around.
And when you understand this, you will be grateful for their fate."
