Lesson from the Spirit
I see a cave shaped like a cube. Four entrances. I hear water dripping along the walls, the smell of dampness and moss. It’s cool, a light breeze.
"When you sit in confinement so long, you become so receptive to everything that surrounds you, as if you live several lives at once. You do not think, you do not remember, your thoughts are completely empty, yet the soul is filled. With what? With sounds, smells, sensations of wind, cold, warmth. One could say you become more receptive to the world around you.
Because of the noise you make in your own head, because of that nagging, insistent, worn-out record, you do not see the beauty of the world around you, you do not feel it fully, because your voice is soloing louder than the whole orchestra of life. But the orchestra is a symphony, a harmonious work that fills and enriches your inner world. And yet you prefer to play solo, often neglecting other sounds.
— What is this about, Spirit?
— About your faith in yourself. When you are full of faith, devotion, truth, trust, you replenish your inner space with the harmony the world creates around you.
This does not mean forgetting yourself, or not seeing yourself.
Playing in the one orchestra means creating the harmony of the world’s unity.
Try this practice, and each time you will begin to feel more and more the sounding of the space around you, rediscovering sounds, smells, tactile sensations, and in this harmony rediscover yourself.
Even if only briefly, it is important to close your eyes and immerse yourself in the world around you. There, in that sound, you will hear the bright, distinct play of your melody, the melody of yourself.
And you will learn to see, to notice more vividly, more skillfully, more clearly than you could before. For its good, the one and being space. So be it. 🙏"
