A Lesson from the Spirit

A girl runs in a long dress down a long corridor. There is light visible at the end, but the passage narrows more and more. So much so that she can barely squeeze through, stretching toward the light, toward the exit.
“You are used to raising walls around yourselves, constraining frames accepted by society, not by you. Your soul burns with the desire to gain freedom, freedom of your consciousness.
Those frames—you helped build them too, to please your views, sometimes out of cowardice.
But what is actually happening?
The closer you come to the light, the more doubt and uncertainty press on you. You may worry whether you are doing everything correctly, rightly; you compare yourself to others. All this causes your path to narrow, the tight passage pressing upon you.
At some point you feel stuck, that your development no longer moves forward because you cannot take a step. You see the light, you reach for it, but nothing happens. New fears take hold of you.
You move down the corridor without noticing anything. You rush as if to grab the light. You hurry as though that light is fated to go out before you touch it.
Yet where is your delusion?”
“I do not know, Spirit. Tell me.”
“You are mistaken when you do not believe, when you turn away and leave, when you do not wish to know and do not strive for understanding. You trouble yourself in your own bustle, refusing to notice the obvious.
You race down this corridor as if through a narrow tunnel, and the faster you run, the more the walls press on you, forcing you to accept decisions uncomfortable for you, those that contradict your essence, your divine beginning.
Who are you? I ask.
Are you chasing a phantom light, or are you the one who finds that light within yourself?”

He shows how the corridor collapses, how the walls are removed like a cardboard box. A person stands in the middle of one vast space without borders and there is light—so much light around.
“Spirit, there is so much light around!”
“Yes, because you are that light. It is not around you, but within. And once it is kindled more strongly, once it breaks out of the frames someone has set, others will see that light.
It is not the same as going, running toward it somewhere. To see the light in another is to find it in yourself. Thus you ignite others’ hearts with your own light. With one glance, one touch of your thoughts to someone who needs this light.
No frames, rules, dogmas, or order can extinguish your light—only you can. But you are also the one who renews that light within yourself, carrying the divine spark through thousands of spaces, touching other souls with this radiance, who in turn kindle the light within themselves, carrying it like a prayer in the hush, in the soundless unified space.
So be it. 🙏
