A Lesson from the Spirit
I found myself high in the mountains, on a beautiful spring meadow.
“Do you like the mountain?”
“Yes.”
“It’s beautiful here.”
You know, each had their own mountain. And they all loved to merge with this place.
It’s like a pure white canvas. You paint something on it, and it’s already a story.
“What are you talking about?”
“The mountain is only a metaphor. The mountain is the place that exists inside each of you.
Remember. Close your eyes. Think of nothing. Sink into the place where you feel absolute silence, complete merging with the world around you. It can even be noisy streets and bustling cars, but you will hear no sound.
There are no sounds here. Only a pure white canvas before you.
Each time take up the brush and paint. This canvas is before your eyes. It occupies almost all the space.
Everything you paint on it will reflect the beauty you possess, or the wondrous thing you are striving for.
Each time sounds distract you from another stroke on the canvas, reset—erase everything—and begin to create again from the clean white canvas.
What will it be? Roofs of houses? A shady forest awakened in the rays of the rising sun? Or your heart filling with love, beating? Its glow widens and widens, growing larger and larger, until it fills your entire canvas—one large heart pulsing with tender light.
And now you hear a sound, but only the sound of your own heartbeat. It becomes ever brighter, more present, more convincing.
This pulsation does not occur merely in your chest; it expands to the size of your body and beyond.
“What is this lesson about?”
“This lesson is about who you were but have come to forget. It’s a lesson about humanity, about your ability to create in silence a great, healing symphony of the beating of your open heart. About how on the white canvas you paint, create a masterpiece out of nothing, out of nowhere.
You do not need brushes, nor paints.
Those are the tools you wait for in order to begin creating.
And while you wait for those magical tools, your canvas stays empty, and everything around you is filled with silence.
You do not hear or see while you wait, hoping for a miracle.
But the miracle is you yourself, and that smile of the little boy who ran past you, and the soft purr of a kitten…
These are the miracle, the magical tools you have waited for so long.
Take that warmth boldly, without hesitation, and from this tender but sturdy substance of love you will create a masterpiece within yourself, that very pulsing heart, full of love for yourself and for the world around you, for everyone who will touch your field. This is to see and hear; this is the beginning of knowing another world and finding yourself in this world.
