Lesson from the Spirit
- Come to the temple with your own candle.
- What does that mean? To have your own opinion?
- It means to come with the light lit in your soul.
If you go without the intention to know the truth, then what have you come to know?
It is like searching for something you do not want to find, do not wish to find.
Understanding—that is what must guide you. What does it mean to light that candle? It means to become aware of your intention to move toward spirituality. Otherwise, how can you heal someone who denies their own illness?
Each person has their own experience, each their own path, but the goal is one—self-knowledge, spirituality. One person needs one thing, another needs something else, and the third will be right as well.
Spirituality is what everyone is seeking.
How can a doctor help you if you will not tell him your symptoms?
What are symptoms? They are what you feel, what you perceive.
So it is with spirituality: only by raising the question of what troubles you, what gnaws at you, what makes it hard to breathe—raising it not with fear, reproach, or disgust, but raised confidently, in acceptance, through recognizing its importance—will you receive help in your asking.
You will feel a response to your own request, sent by you long ago into that space and dimension in which you see and feel your support.
