A Lesson from the Spirit
"Let them not grieve for the small things they once missed.
Often life offers many opportunities for forgetting. Yet you cling to them so fiercely, so jealously, that you are prepared to keep them for centuries like unlearned lessons—returning again and again to the classroom, sitting at the same desk, opening the same book, and when you leave the room you leave everything there, only to come back.
"What should one do?"
"You must learn one thing—be in understanding of what is happening to you.
To be in understanding of what is happening to you means to Love; when you know what that is, it means to remember what you wanted to forget.
"So should one forget or not? I don't understand."
"You keep painful lessons that return you to a state of turmoil and anxiety, not understanding that the purpose here is not in those stories you return to, but in the knowledge you gained.
What conclusions did you take with you, what wisdom filled you then so you could manifest that wisdom now?
Where you did not perceive wisdom, there was no lesson—only memories. The very ones that give you no rest. When something gnaws at you, return. But return with the intention to sort it out, to understand, to grasp the essence of what happened to you, the reason for that decision, the connection with the experience you were meant to acquire. Your experience is nothing other than knowledge, and knowledge preserves the wisdom of that life lesson that was once ordained for you.
Receive it as you receive bread and water, as something you need, as something that fills you, supports and grows strength within you, as something that gives you the desire to live and to savor the taste of this life."
