Lesson from the Spirit

"Show me the abode of the Spirits."
And they carried me there — the same snow-white floors with bright flowers along the edges, the same spring. Only ahead, instead of the corridor with many doors that I was used to, there stretched a flower garden of unimaginable beauty, and a fountain in the middle. I paused and stood still.

"There wasn't this fountain before."
"Everything changes here, but this place remains the same. What matters is not what you see, but what you feel, how you sense the world around you. What you fill this world with, what you fill yourself with — that is immutable. Everything in your life can change: new roads, new people, new events, but you must remain the same — your soul must be unshakable."
"I don't understand, I must develop, but remain the same?"
"The yearnings of your soul must remain the same."
"What do you mean?"
"It's like watching an old film. You watch the film several times, you know the plot in advance, the actors' performances. Everything is familiar, but you rewatch it, you rewatch it hoping to feel a certain emotion, the emotions that fill you, fill your soul. And you go to rewatch that film for those emotions, you go after them. The desires of your soul remain the same. Everything in this world is connected to you — to your development, to your awakening, to your desire.
When you think you know everything, have experienced everything, a new door always opens. These doors open for your development, for your unfolding, for your spiritual growth, for your understanding of what is important. You can open door after door, accepting all that is new into yourself."

Then the corridor with many doors appeared again. The first door to my left stood wide open, but beyond it was darkness.
"What is behind this door?"
"Another world."
"How do I get there?"
The Spirit took my hand and we were on the other side of the door. When I arrived there, I saw a stunning world unknown to me. And in the doorway through which we had entered there was darkness again. I don't know what to compare the new world to, since I'd never seen anything like it — whimsical columns stretching from earth to sky.
