Lesson from the Spirit

- What is the lesson about?
- About bias. You become biased where you feel your own weakness.
- Explain—what is that?
- Bias lies in the depth of your judgments, in how you construct thoughts and desires. When you try to fit something, or someone, into a single standard, you only confirm your own helplessness, your weakness, your inability to accept others as they are.
Before you adopt someone else’s way of life, first learn to see your own reflection.
You are often mistaken simply because you do not see and do not accept your own reflection in the mirror of your soul.
If you try to improve someone, begin with yourself. If you try to beautify someone, begin with yourself. If you try to convince someone, convince yourself of the rightness of your judgments through true knowledge. But the moment you do this, you will understand how blind you were, you will see how deeply you erred in trying to teach others.
Teaching is a continuous, patiently waiting process; it tolerates no fussiness, no fastidiousness, no doubts. It is important to learn to notice not only the good you see in yourself and accept as your own reward, but also to see the shadow of sadness in the eyes of another who looks at you. To see and accept another’s pain by understanding its essence, by recognizing the importance of the process of acceptance for that person and for yourself.
Do not be afraid to make mistakes, do not be afraid to err, for that is the search for truth when your gaze is turned to your own soul. But beware judgments and doubts, for they breed fears that feed on your sincerity, honesty, and openness. Then it becomes difficult for you to remain in those lovely qualities; it becomes difficult to accept yourself and the world around you. Therefore, trust yourself, trust the processes the Creator has prepared for you to seek the solutions that will lead you to true knowledge of yourself. So be it.
