A Lesson from the Spirit

"Silence. Come into silence and you will receive an answer."
"What is it?"
"Silence is not only the absence of speech. Silence is within each of you. It is that state of serenity and calm that is available to everyone. Yet not all of you use this instrument. Silence will help you better understand yourselves, to search out those priorities that by their weight have come to shape your worldview and your path. In silence there are no words, only stillness. This stillness radiates an extraordinary light, a bright, full light born of the Universe. The light of the bearer of the Divine spark in each of you. When you seek an answer, immerse yourselves in silence, let yourselves hear the voice of your own soul. Not by demand, not by lamentation or force, but by gentle regard for the light that you are.
"And what about thoughts?"
"Thoughts are a process of your mind. They are a part of silence, but they are not the answer; the answer lies deeper, in that voice which resides in your own depths."
"How do you distinguish thoughts from the inner voice?"
"Thoughts draw you into the process of discussion. The voice of your soul draws you into acceptance. Where there is no room for doubt, where you trust that voice, trust yourself. The thoughts of your mind are subject to doubt, to debate, to torment. And at the same time they are a source of something beautiful, like inspiration or learning.
You need them, as you need your mind, in order to remain in the unified balance of your own creative being.
Receive silence with the same desire as you receive bread and water, and you will hear there reflections of truth and the ubiquitous verities.
And this truth is about you and for you, giving good and singing of good.
Silence is a moment of rebirth and renewal of your own self, like that sound which is born in it first.
Do not be afraid and do not flee from yourselves; allow this acquaintance to happen, allow this grace to occur, allow this reunion to take place. Where all your answers are carefully kept in the complete stillness of silence."
