A Lesson from the Spirit

They show a house; inside a fireplace burns, but the fire in it begins to die down, it smolders. Inside the chimney is black soot. The Spirit says, move the damper. I move the damper and the fire begins to blaze.

“They say the fireplace is the heart of the house.
How does your heart burn? Does it blaze? Spark? Or smolder, slowly going out?
Do you feel emptiness in your soul, grief, often simply because the fire in your heart is smoldering, when it ought to be burning. The climate inside the house depends on it: will there be warmth and comfort, or cold and damp.
Look inside yourself: what are you seeking there, and what do you find?
And if the answer does not match, it means the fire in your heart is merely smoldering.”
“What does matching mean?”
“It means that what you seek inside you is truly what you will find there. Often you seek peace, you seek support, you seek advice, some kind of approval; you seek illumination and insight because you do not see it within yourselves, because you have pushed the damper of your fireplace so far that you do not allow oxygen to feed the fire in your soul.”
“How to help?”
“Look inside yourself. How do you see this fireplace? Look—are the coals smoldering or growing, do they spark with heat or fade? What’s there?
Look at the chimney. Where it needs cleaning, mentally direct from above, through it, the true divine light. Watch how slowly, step by step, this light passes through the chimney, and the soot disappears. There is only shining heavenly dust, only the bright glow of the primordial energy. Allow this glow to pass down, touching the very bottom, transforming everything inside this chimney. Look—how many dampers are in the chimney? One? Two? Three? Open each one, unhurriedly, slowly, and observe how your heart begins to breathe, burning more and more, being nourished by that oxygen which is the true source of life, which is the pure benevolent energy of the Creator himself, his care, his attention, his unconditional love for you, which touches softly and gently, helping you, transforming you from within, where you, renewed, begin to breathe, slowly and freely… Enjoying each inhalation, transforming each exhalation.
And in that inhalation you realize how your whole body is saturated with that divine radiance coming from your chest, for your true good, for the good of all being.
So be it. 🙏”

A heart filled with love gives that care, that attention, that joy, protection, inspiration, tender participation you seek around you, forgetting to look within.

Do not be afraid to look into the depth of yourself, for what you will see there should come down upon you as the realization that you are one, and in that oneness you are capable of replenishing both yourself and the world around you with energy. So be it.

Do not trouble yourselves about sorrows you have yourself created; give care and attention to your spirituality, nourish and cultivate it within, and your sorrows will turn to dust across the eternal expanses of creation.
