A Lesson from the Spirit
I stand on the edge of a waterfall, and below stretches a vast, clear body of water where fishermen are fishing.
"Every catch of theirs is a blessing."
"Why?"
"They do not flail about for the outcome; they enjoy the process here and now. Their serenity can teach many lessons. When you learn to take pleasure in the process itself, without demanding anything in return, you will not notice how the result comes to you on its own. Many neglect the process of serene, gentle waiting, demanding the result while not understanding that the process itself already is the result."
"I don't understand."
"When you begin to look at the world through the lens of 'all is well,' every moment you spend becomes filled for you with significance, joy, grace—the very processes that will begin to transform you from within. In this way they bring you closer to the result you strive for. By ignoring this process of learning and transformation within yourself, you thus ignore the very result you seek. That is why you so often experience disappointment, emptiness, unbelief, irritation…
The process of waiting for a result is a process — the process of your spiritual growth, the process of your transformation, through the lessons given to you, through the messages and hints you see along your path. By ignoring, unwilling to accept, and not receiving this, remaining closed off in your expectation of the goal, you will not reach it, because that goal is the process of spiritual growth itself.
Learn to greet each day with gratitude, with acceptance, with awareness of the importance of the events and processes that occur in your life, in you. By understanding and accepting the importance of the process of spiritual growth, you will come to yourself with ease and serenity. You will come to that point of your spiritual transformation where you will know yourself, God within you, and the world around.
So be it. 🙏
