A Lesson from the Spirit

I was shown a large field where Yulia and Vinod sat back to back; they were meditating, praying for people. Then clouds gathered above them and thunder with lightning tore the heavens open; rain began to fall in huge drops, breaking the dust.

And the Spirit said:
“Rain is cleansing.”
“And fire?”
“Oblivion.”
“Why is that?”
“Water washes you, removing negativity, relaxing you, bringing peace, harmonizing you. Fire burns negativity away without a trace. After fire one must be purified.”
“I don’t quite understand.”
“Fire awakens that which lies deep and sleeping within you, that which causes suffering and brings you turmoil. Water, however, is your cleansing.”
“And what is that about?”
“About you.”
“What do you mean?”
“One burns and destroys all that is negative; the other cleanses and fills with life.
You think you have already known the truth, but that is not so. You are elements of one great constellation.
A lesson about what is important.
It is important to understand — to build something new you must destroy the old.
The more of that old you must part with, the longer it will take you to build the new. To get rid of everything at once, in a single moment, is impossible; it is a gradual path.
There, as you destroy the old, you will come to understand why it was there for you, to study the meaning of what has long burdened you.
Tears are cleansing, they are water. Tears that come after the realization of something important and necessary to you are the cleansing of your soul; having been cleansed, you will begin to be filled.
Do not fear getting rid of all the negativity that contradicted your soul’s true calling.
By destroying, you accept purification and the filling of yourself with those blessed and needed energies and knowledges that will accompany you on your path of spiritual growth, helping and pointing out the subtle turns of the route that, if you follow it, you will find yourself. So be it.

What is fire? It is force, drive, power; it is that whirlwind capable of destroying much so that in its place something new and inspiring may arise.
