Lesson from the Spirit

There are many hives in a field, and nearby stands a beekeeper with a smoker.

"Look how carefully he approaches them. From the outside it may seem that he cares for them, that he creates conditions for their life. But he creates conditions that force them to leave their home."
"What do you mean?"
"You are like these bees — you are constantly being smoked out of your own home. You do not understand what rest is, like those bees; you are always compelled to work. Just when they have stored enough food, they are forced to leave the home and start all over again when they return.
"Likewise, when you are closest to knowing yourself, when you delve into your spirituality, circumstances from the outside begin to act upon you, circumstances that 'kindly' offer you new rules of the game, in which you will be forced to leave your home and attend to pressing problems. You will come back again and again, trying to accumulate that spirituality within yourself, to develop it."
"Why does this happen?"
"A person allows it to happen. It is offered, and he agrees. That is how he experiences life — through this kind of game."
"What should be done?"
"Stop accepting the imposed rules of the game. Become the director, not the performer. Accumulate spirituality in every cell of your soul, as bees accumulate honey, comb by comb; build within yourself a whole system of spiritual values, an entire spiritual world. Do this without fear, without expectations of what will happen, without 'what if I cannot,' 'what if I falter,' 'what if I don't see,' 'what if I am not given proof'... Spirituality is not about proof. Spirituality exists beyond life and yet is also a participant in it."
"How is that to be understood?"
"The Spirit helps you on the path of knowing; the Spirit helps you unfold when you go with trust, accept this cooperation as given, with gratitude and joy, with a clean and open heart. Then the Spirit shows its care, taking you into its embrace, into its protected circle, where you will begin to feel that care, that presence of your Spirit in your everyday life. So be it."

Build your combs, your home, your spiritual food that will nourish you, give you strength and confidence, opening new possibilities before you, forming and guiding you.
