A Lesson from the Spirit
They show a person at a crossroads. Four sides, like four directions: north, west, south, east.
And the Spirit speaks.
"Finish what you've begun."
"What is that about?"
"Very often you stand at a crossroads, not understanding why this has happened and where to go next. Very often you do not finish what you started. This is not about something trivial, like an unfinished painting or manuscript, although those things also matter.
Unfinished relationships — where you were afraid, unwilling, didn’t have time, or couldn’t put a period for yourself. In each of these situations on your life’s path you left a hold — a thin, stretching thread. The thinner that thread, the stronger it is. And you cannot sever it by intention alone.
"What’s wrong with that?"
"These threads pull you, dragging you into the past. They force you to remember again and again the past and to shape an unrealized future there. In this way you create a parallel world in which there is no place for you. This world, created by you, exists only as a program to retard your development. The more of these programs, the more unfinished things you leave, the harder it is for you to move forward, the more doubts accumulate in you.
Insecurity, doubts, betrayed hopes, unfulfilled expectations. It seems to you that you are moving forward, but you are frozen in waiting, in trying to fix those unfinished moments you have cherished and nurtured year after year."
"And what should we do?"
"Let go. Mentally return to each of those situations in order to put a full stop for yourself — finally and irrevocably, without doubts, in complete certainty of the correctness, necessity, and rightness of your desire to put that stop."
"How does one free oneself?"
They show a person with thin threads attached to him — strong, like steel cable, and at the ends of those threads are heavy boxes. He walks, and all of it trails behind him. Then scissors appear and cut the threads one by one, unhurriedly. Divine scissors.
Now the person is free; there is no longer a crossroads, there is only one road ahead — beautiful, lit by bright light, a road.
