Lesson from the Spirit
I see rice fields. At the edge of a field stands a Spirit; before him an easel with a canvas, brushes, and paints. He is painting, but for some reason the picture he paints does not match the image I see.
- What is this about?
- About forgetting.
You forget where you come from, who you are; you forget your connections, your participation in the world's creation.
- Why?
- Why? Because all space is saturated with your intentions. Setting false goals for yourselves, you follow them. Space arranges invisible steps for you, along which you walk, clearly convinced of the rightness of that path. It is not a matter of understanding the illusory nature of what is happening to you; it is a matter of your unwillingness, a matter of your habit — the habit of living, the habit of thinking, the habit of moving according to certain well-worn algorithms of action.
But the moment you step away from these algorithms, the moment you give in to the impulse of your soul, you will see the illusory nature of that path, and what once seemed clear and understandable will become for you a fiction, while the true path will open to your sight.
What is the true path for each of you? It is the path of remembering who you are, the path of knowing yourself and God within yourself, the reunion of you as a unified whole.
You forget that you are free to create yourselves. Not what is imposed on you, not what is shown to you, but what you feel inside. You are free to create yourselves. So what holds you back?
You are held back by your own habits. No one says this is bad. But much of what you are used to and do out of habit deprives you of the possibility to look wider and deeper, deprives you of the possibility to create, imposing certain frames on you.
No one places you in those frames; you do it yourselves with your own intention.
Remove the frames that restrain you. Knowing yourself is a free path, it is flight, it is creativity, it is an impulse. There is no place there for frames or rules. Only your own inner response. Whatever is for your good — that is the right decision for you.
You can add strokes to this painting as you like, as inspires you. By transforming the world within yourself, you will see its transformation outside. There lies the truth.
