Lesson from the Spirit

Huge roots. I walk over them, stepping across, climbing over them. With a single gesture the Spirit uproots those stumps from the soil. He plants a new garden. That mountain of stumps stands by the road.

"What is all this about?"
"The roots are what prevented you from living, from developing fully. They are your fears, worries, insecurities... Your whole ground had grown through with those roots. Those roots are the way you lived."

The Spirit turned the old roots to dust.

"Nothing exists without reason. Your life path, however difficult it may have seemed, is what you grew on, it is what nourished your ground. Why throw away what can still be useful to you?"

Those roots, that dust, became fertilizer for the young saplings. First little leaves appeared on the young trees, then flowers, and the whole garden bloomed.

"This is your experience. Whatever you think of it, it is your experience; you grew on it. Thanks to it you came to understand who you are, to understand your purpose, you came to knowledge. Is that bad?"
"No."
"Learn to accept what is given to you without grumbling, without complaint, without anger.
Learn to give thanks. And in place of the old twisted stumps there will spread wondrous flowering gardens. And all your past experience will remain with you, helping you, transforming your consciousness to the scale of knowing the essence of the One."

I look at the road where the old stumps had been thrown, and the road has become clean—there are no more of them there.

"Where do you seek God?"
"In myself."
"Correct.
God need not be sought; He must be felt, you must speak with Him, hold a dialogue. He is not hiding from you, just as you cannot hide from Him. You are a single whole, remember that. So be it."
