A Lesson from the Spirit

I found myself in a large dining hall where everyone was dressed the same, seated in neat rows, each with the same food on the table. They were eating from metal bowls, a slice of black bread beside each. They made synchronized movements.
“What is this?”
“Many of you follow their example.”
“What do you mean?”
“You don’t reflect on the most important things, accepting other comforts as truth.”
What are they doing?
“They are eating.”
“They are not merely eating. They take what is brought to them without assigning it any meaning. They act like the majority.”
“And how should one act?”

The Spirit took my hand and led me out of that dining hall. We found ourselves in a bright, fruit-laden garden.

“If you gather the fruit yourself, you will know more; you will take what you need, not what is handed to you.”
“What do you mean?”
“If you come into the garden, you can choose from many fruits those that you need. The same food does not suit everyone, but people have grown used to consuming what they are given, sparing themselves the need to step beyond the walls of that building, look around, and make a choice for themselves—choose what they need, what fills them, what reflects their desire. The knowledge that will help you become full, to open up. If you begin to think about this and step beyond what is offered to you, you will learn much more and feel more deeply. When you feed yourself like everyone else, everything seems gray and dreary, monotonous. But once you step beyond it, a whole world opens before your eyes with bright colors, with diverse fruits. As you taste those fruits, you will be filled with the right knowledge, important knowledge, for the quicker discovery of yourself.

Do not look to the opinions of others; walk your own path of development, the path inscribed by the Creator Himself. Go without fear and doubt, in true trust in yourself and the guiding Spirit. So be it.
