A Lesson from the Spirit

The more boring a subject is, the more likely you are to stop. The moment you stop, much of what once shone and appealed to you begins to lose its sheen; many things fall away before your eyes. And only that to which you cling with your attention can rekindle the smoldering coals.

Your life, your initiative, your activity—these are the coals that allow the mechanism to engage as one. Whatever happens in your life, remember the necessity of moving forward.

Movement is life, you say, and you feel the truth of it. Movement gives rise to life. Your actions, even your thoughts, set the mechanism of life in motion. Where you rejoice, take pleasure, feel inspired, where you want to stay, dissolve, create—there is life. And life is your development. It’s that simple. The formula is laughably simple—do not allow stagnation to exist in your life. Where you feel apathy, unwillingness, disagreement, nonacceptance, rejection, where you are not inspired—you are merely losing yourself.

You do not notice how the very forces that recently filled you now make you weak, vulnerable to yourself. But as soon as you turn the wheel of life the other way and accept those of its aspects that breathe life into you, everything around you will be transformed—you will be transformed. These changes will ripple and be heard everywhere and on everyone’s lips. Because it cannot be otherwise! A wheel is movement. But in which direction to turn it is up to you. To step backward, stubbornly proving the opposite to yourself, or to go forward into pleasure. What will your soul choose?

Not reason, not someone’s imposed thoughts, not because it must be so, or because others demand it, not for honor or gain, but because you cannot do otherwise. Because you desire here and now to care for your inner world, for that life you cultivate within yourself as a single indivisible aspect of being which, when it unfolds, rises upward, granting liberation to those who keep the secret.
