Lesson from the Spirit
Practice for healing regrets.
You may suffer a long time, regretting what you once missed, now judging your choices wrong, crooked, unrefined, leaving a part of yourself back in that past you cannot accept. The memory of it stays as scars on your soul, uncovered wounds that sometimes make themselves felt.
Not forgiving yourself means losing yourself, refusing the possibilities that lie before you, falling into apathy and the stagnation of unrealized potential.
Time, you say, is like sand; it seeps through your fingers, streams over your palms, and slips away.
But the sand did not disappear — it remains down there, under your feet, that viscous substance that slows your stride, halts you on the path of your own awakening, on the path of growth.
Time is not lost. That is a deep delusion that seeks to lead you into despair, apathy, regret.
It is at your feet. Those grains — countless specks of lost time — lie under your feet. You can take them into your hands again, sifting through the tiny granules, anew.
Not as a bewildered player once, but as a wise overseer now.
From this position, as observer, you better understand the character of each grain, its shape, structure, properties.
You unpack them step by step, grasping the whole mechanism of interaction between these grains, their collaboration in reproducing a particular lesson you once refused to learn.
Now, realizing that time is not lost, that it does not trickle through your fingers like sand but is always under your feet, you need only reach out your hand, set an intention, understand, immerse yourself in the story to comprehend it.
And as soon as this situation takes shape before you from many elements gathered into a single tapestry, you will see the whole mechanism of interaction and the importance of each grain’s role in this story, in this picture.
And as observer and wise overseer you accept this story as part of yourself.
Not so you will stumble over that sand and stamp in it each time, but so that this sand becomes a visible path on your way, a firm foundation, that stronghold you can trust, the core with which you are filled.
With a steady hand make your decision and with a firm foot step onto your true path, accepting all of yourself and all those grains you once considered a burden, an unkept promise to yourself or anyone else, a humiliation of your own story that kept you from moving on.
Do not look back at what was seeking revenge.
Instead, take this lesson honestly for yourself, and transform that regret of the past into the grand potential of the future — into the good you intend to create henceforth, cultivating virtues within yourself, helping others, accepting others, and thereby helping and accepting yourself.
