A Lesson from the Spirit

I was shown a wheat field. The Spirit sat down beside me, plucked an ear, and gently turned it over in his hands.

“It's time to harvest.
Look at this ear. How many ripe grains are on it! They will all open when their time comes.
When you walk the spiritual path, it becomes easier for your family, for those close to you, to come to maturity of mind and heart.
Do you see this ear? It has large, mature grains, and it has small ones too. No one would notice the small ones if the ear were made only of them. But there are grains fit for food, and so the ear is considered mature.
Each of you stands in your place and plays a certain role. This ear might not have come to continuation if it had been made only of small, undeveloped grains, but one that contains many mature grains can give life, can continue the story.
The maturity of one mind and heart can lead to the maturity of all who surround it. And in that moment they do not need special skill to learn anything; they only need to be near the one who has manifested, the one who has awakened, the one already walking the path.
And you become the standard-bearer for your own family, its call that answers in the heart of each who follows you.
The leadership many strive for does not give the same inner satisfaction as the role of a flag-bearer who leads others. And not out of pride, but for the common good — once awakened, you will lead others.
Do not be afraid to be the one who leads, for behind you stand those who trust and believe. By nurturing trust, by nurturing faith in them, you open the road ahead for yourself as well.
And so you become a single team, where those who follow you reveal the further way by their strength, their diligence, their faith.”
