A Lesson from the Spirit
Do not judge the mood of water by its surface.
You can stare at water as long as you like, at its calm and serenity, and yet not suspect what lies beneath that surface.
Down there life rages, there are revelations and disappointments, regrets and acceptance, love and hate…
So often you—like a great connoisseur, a great reader of other faces—draw conclusions, offer remarks to someone, judge and speculate while seeing only the water’s surface, never delving into the essence of those waters, not understanding who is actually before you, what they are living through and what they dream of.
To judge others is not merely a vice; it is rash, harmful to the growth of your soul, because deception often lies within it.
And you, failing to understand, unwilling to be moved by someone, make those wrong judgments about them that form within you deceived expectations, assertions, and viewpoints.
It is not they whom you harm with this, but yourself—you block your own path to spirituality, creating error, deception, a distortion of reality that is hard for you to escape.
Like webs grown over you, you layer them again and again and try to find a way out of these delusions.
By condemning someone rashly with a superficial opinion, you only draw your own map of lies, from which finding an exit will become ever more difficult.
Therefore, do not rush; calm your mind, allow your soul to speak when you wish to feel someone—not judging or assigning any evaluation to them, but feeling them with your soul. And then, and only then, will you be able to know another’s soul, having elevated your own above your ego.
