A Lesson from the Spirit
"Do you see the rock? It is unbreakable. How long has it stood like that, resisting wind, rain, underground waters, hurricanes…?
Life happens on it, under it, above it, around it, but the rock remains unbroken, motionless, immovable. Why?"
"It must be that way."
"In a sense you're right. You are right. The rock was made that way by the Creator's design. Its stillness, its steadfastness, are the foundation for the life that takes place around it. Birds build nests, beasts dig burrows, knowing that tomorrow nothing will change, the rock will still stand. That provides certain guarantees, don't you think?"
"Yes, perhaps that's so."
"Why is your consciousness different from the consciousness of trees and flowers, of the same animals? Have you thought about that?"
"God created us in His image and likeness."
"But for what? So that you would not merely live, but so that your faith, firmness of mind, character, your steadfastness to your true convictions would be the foundation for life on earth. Then there will be no catastrophes, no accidents.
You are that basis of stability in the world that so many speak about.
Become that rock and you will see how everything begins to transform around you. If now it seems to you that you are running, unable to accomplish something, as if everything has frozen while you keep running and running, remaining in the same place, then by gaining confidence, immovability in your right views, by gaining faith and love, you will become that very rock, whose stronghold forms the basis for life on earth. And you will see how the picture that was once static will begin to change.
Everything will change the other way around, and you will watch that busy life
that happens around you, remaining in the position of observer and organizer of this magnificent undertaking.
In changing yourself this way, you do not merely change from within; you bring balance, equilibrium to all that exists on planet Earth.
You become a support, a stronghold, a foundation, a guarantor of the life the Creator once breathed into this planet, so that you could not only recognize His design, but become a direct participant in the great and truly wondrous process called life.
To know yourself, to see yourself with God's eyes, first complete the process of knowing His design.
Become the continuation of the idea He once planted in you."
