"Do you believe in miracles?"
"Yes, I believe in miracles. I believe in God."
"Believing in God is not a miracle; it is knowledge hidden deep in your soul, which you reach for so desperately as if for a distant star.
What do you consider a miracle in God?"
"Healing people of illnesses."
"Anything else?"
"Helping people in various matters, caring for all living things…"
"But those are God's duties, aren't they? A miracle is seeing an executioner drop his weapon. That is not natural for him. He is an executioner. It is his job.
A miracle is when you go against what is expected of you, against what others expect of you. And at the same time, you move in tandem with the desires of your soul.
A miracle is to see and feel something abnormal—abnormally beautiful, lovely, wondrous, inspiring.
A miracle is when a brave flower blooms in the middle of winter and a ray of sun falls on it, gently warming and shielding it from the biting cold. That is a miracle.
These miracles are not out there somewhere; they are inside you. You yourselves are the source of miracle for this world.
When someone braces themselves in fear, preparing to take a blow, and instead of a blow receives a smile, tenderness, your shown mercy.
Feel the miracle within you, find it, show it to the world day by day. Watch, notice this miracle in your surroundings.
And you will understand how close you become to yourself, how closely you feel God within you, understanding Him and discerning His will through the manifestation of that miracle that issues from you in clear radiance."
