Lesson from the Spirit
"Today’s lesson is about waiting.
When a train rushes along at full speed, at the limits of its capacity, what can happen?
"It might fail to stay on course, something could happen, like a catastrophe."
"A catastrophe, right. It can unfold at any moment, in any second. And then? It will be difficult to get that train back on the tracks, won’t it?"
"Yes."
"What do you do when you wait for something desperately? When you desire something so passionately, your train is racing at full tilt. You hurry, caught up in your expectation, unable to savor the world around you. Everything—events, people—rushes past you at great speed. In hope of what? That your desire will come true? But the train might not hold and could derail. Then what? How much time and energy will it take you to recover?
To live in expectations is to avoid life. What does it mean to avoid life? It means to avoid yourself.
When you crave something passionately, you notice nothing—none of the things you need for your growth. Consequently, you miss the knowledge, the experience, the important and meaningful lessons that are given to you; you see nothing.
Chasing after a desire is like launching into a wild gallop on an uncontrollable horse. In both cases, the outcome is unknown.
Let go of expectations; do not reach after them, do not run after them—make them part of your life.
Learn to enjoy the moment here and now!
Be able to look at your life with wisdom and gratitude. For each day, for each moment, for every breath of wind and the sun’s reflection on the water.
Only through gratitude and acceptance will you cultivate in yourself that divine power capable of transforming any of your desires, gifting you with the goods that will best serve your life.
There may be many desires, but the path is one."
